| Taftville Provides support to Norwich 4th Alarm Factory Fire August 23, 2005 At around 00:53hrs the East Great Plains FD was dispatched to a working structure fire at the old National Propane Building off of West Thames St. Units arrived to find heavy fire thru the roof and explosions from the large amount of propane tanks in the building. at 01:42 Hrs a engine was requested from Taftville and later Tower 25 was dispatched to provide relief for Norwich Tower 1. The following departments were involved. East Great Plains, City of Norwich Headquarters, Yantic, Laurel Hill, Taftville, Occum, Mohegan Tribal, Bozrah, Preston City, Poquetanuck, Mohegan,Gales Ferry, Naval Submarine Base and numerous other New London County Fire Departments for manpower and the newly formed New London County Incident Management Team |
