| Yantic 3rd Alarm Fire Nov 12, 2007 - At 09:45hrs, Yantic was dispatched to a kitchen fire at 305 Washington St. Yantic units arrived to find fire venting out windows on the 2nd flr and 3rd flr rear. Units from Taftville, City of Norwich, East Great Plains, Occum, Yantic, Mohegan Tribal FAST, and US Submarine Base. Crews from Yantic Eng-32,31, Taftville ET-21,T-25,Norwich Eng-3 had handlines in operation on the 2nd & 3rd flr. the fire was hidden in 3 layers of roof above the 3rd flr. An evacuation order was given for deteriorating fire conditions and 1 FF was pulled by Taftville firefighters from the 2nd flr for exhaustion. Defensive operations were put in place. The building was a total loss. 2 additional firefighters and 1 civilian were treated and released at WWBH. The Norwich FMO is investigating |
